Districts Design Philosophy

Welcome to the latest edition of The Districts Digest!

As we continue to push the boundaries of imagination within our decentralized, open-source ecosystem, we're excited to share some of our thought processes behind the design elements that will shape the future of Districts. Our mission is to create a clean, refined, and user-friendly virtual world, and we've made some key design decisions to achieve this.

Hexagons Are the Bestagons

One of the initial design challeges the Districts team encountered was determining the shape of the land parcels. For all you science geeks out there, the earth is an irregularly shaped ellipsoid. This ruled out simple shapes like squares or triangles. We had to dig deeper, and we found that hexagons are the bestagons! Hexagons allowed us to break up the earth in a way that best utilized every inch!

A Clean, Modern Aesthetic

Inspired by the sleek, minimalistic design language of brands like Apple, we've chosen to move away from the cluttered, game-like interfaces common in many current virtual worlds. Our goal is to create an environment that is both elegant and intuitive. We emphasize using glass refractions to achieve a futuristic and pristine aesthetic. Additionally, the semi-transparent textures and lines will contribute to a lightweight and airy feel in the UI, enhancing the overall user experience with a refined and modern touch.

Intuitive Experience 

Creating an intuitive map experience for the LandRush has been one of our most exciting challenges. Our designers have thoughtfully crafted a map interface where users will be able to easily find and interact with Districts. We believe that navigating through virtual worlds should feel natural and intuitive, not like using a complex new tool. Our map design ensures that exploring Districts is as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

Your Profile, Your World

Your profile in Districts will be a snapshot of your digital ownership and identity. You will be able to customize it with a unique handle, color theme, and distinctive avatar to make it truly yours. Connect with others by favoriting profiles and viewing those who favorite you. Prepare to stand out in our vibrant community and make your mark in Districts.
